CBD And Pain Relief

27 August 2020

Historians have shown that cannabis was used to treat pain as long ago as 2900 BC; now researchers have shown that CBD is definitely the element of the plant which has this benefit.

The human body produces endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Studies are showing that CBD can help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with these neurotransmitters.

One American study found that rats treated with CBD had reduced pain response to surgical incision, while another experiment – also on rats – found that CBD treatment significantly reduced sciatic nerve pain and inflammation.

Moving on from rodents, several studies of humans have found that CBD is effective in treating pain related to multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia and arthritis. A number of countries have approved CBD for pain relief – which is a very good thing indeed.
